Downtown McKinney is one of my favorite corners of the DFW metroplex. It’s full of lovely, quirky local businesses that are all within walking distance from each other (which you can read more about here).

One of the newest businesses to pop up in the McKinney square is perfect for plant moms and caffeine addicts alike: Habitat Plants + Coffee. Here are some pics from our experience at this paradise for greens and beans.

Plant Shopping at Habitat Plants + Coffee

As someone with a budding interest in collecting plants (pun intended), I was thrilled with the selection here. They had dozens of varieties of house plants and succulents, and even a station where you can build your own custom terrarium. The staff was so attentive and helpful, brimming with knowledge about plants and enthusiasm for sharing it. My favorite spot in the store is a bright purple and lime green mossy mural that reads “Sorry, I have plants tonight.”

Coffee Drinking at Habitat Plants + Coffee

The coffee menu keeps it simple and straightforward, with the focus is more on the quality of the imported beans (which are also available for purchase by the bag) than on a large selection of syrupy flavors. The shop sometimes adds limited time holiday-themed beverages, like their “Jabba (the Hut) Juice” for Star Wars Day. We ordered a plain drip coffee on our first visit and were impressed with the rich flavor of the brew. I’m excited to try some of their house lattes on future visits!
