I’ve rounded up some of the best bookish events happening around Dallas-Fort Worth from September through November. The Pumpkin Chapter

Storytellers Bookshop is bringing its bookish market to the Dallas Farmers Market for a day featuring local authors, bookish small businesses and plenty of new reads.

The event will also include a Banned Book Read-In in partnership with Libro.fm and the Silent Book Club. Participants can bring a current read, find a new book at the market or enjoy a free audiobook.

And because it’s happening during pumpkin season at the Farmers Market, there will be no shortage of pumpkins to admire while you browse.

Bring Your Own Book at the Nasher

Sometimes you don’t need a book club or assigned reading. You just need an hour to sit quietly and read whatever you’re already enjoying.

Bring Your Own Book at the Nasher starts with an hour of silent reading followed by 30 minutes of conversation with fellow readers.

There is no assigned book, and you can bring a paperback, hardcover, e-book, audiobook, children’s book, textbook or even a comic book. Show your book at the front desk for free admission.

A Book Buzz: Grown-Up Book Fair

A Book Buzz is basically the grown-up version of those childhood school book fairs we all loved.

This pop-up book fair brings together local authors, small business vendors and bookish merchandise, along with snacks and cocktails at Buffalo Hirsch.

Fall Book Fair Sip & Shop

Book lovers can combine their love of reading with a cozy fall afternoon at Wylie’s Fall Book Fair Sip & Shop.

The event brings together local authors and bookish vendors for an afternoon of books, bookish merchandise and browsing while enjoying the atmosphere at Landon Winery.

It’s a particularly fun option if you’re looking for a relaxed fall activity that feels more like a bookstore date or girls’ afternoon than a huge festival.

Blind Date With a Book Swap

Ready to let someone else choose your next read?

For this fun book swap, you’ll bring a wrapped book with clues about its genre, vibe or tropes and trade it for another reader’s mystery book.

It’s essentially a real-life blind date with a book — and you get to go home with a new story to discover.

Fort Worth Antiquarian Book Fair

Book collectors and lovers of old books won’t want to miss the Fort Worth Antiquarian Book Fair.

The annual event brings exhibitors and book collectors together at the Masonic Temple, with books and paper collectibles to browse throughout the weekend.

The 2026 event is scheduled for October 24 and 25.

Fangs & Fables Market

If dark romance, fantasy and supernatural stories are your idea of a perfect fall read, add the Fangs & Fables Market to your calendar.

This free daytime bookish pop-up brings together local authors, bookish vendors and small businesses for an afternoon celebrating mysterious creatures, darker stories and swoony supernatural romance.

Browse booths featuring books, themed merchandise and spooky-inspired goodies while enjoying music, food, drinks and photo opportunities. Costumes are strongly encouraged, so this is the perfect excuse to dress up as your favorite fictional character or lean into your favorite dark and magical aesthetic.

The market is free to attend, and the venue is dog-friendly. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Buns & Roses Romance Tea for Literacy

Romance readers can enjoy an afternoon of books, tea and plenty of swoony fun at Buns & Roses Romance Tea for Literacy.

The event combines a tea party atmosphere with romance authors, books, a book signing and other activities, while raising money for the Richardson Adult Literacy Center.

It’s a fun option if you’d like your fall book event to come with a little more tea-party magic.

BookNik Dallas: Halloween Edition

BookNik is getting spooky for its Dallas Halloween edition!

Come dressed as your favorite book character or in your best Halloween costume, bring a book to swap, shop the vendor marketplace, play games, dance to the DJ and hang out with fellow book lovers.

The event also includes author and creator activations, community programming, food and drinks.

General admission is currently listed as free, although ticket availability changes as the event gets closer.

A Twisted Midnight: Book Release Ball
