This year is a big milestone for Austin and I: we will celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary this fall! I can hardly believe it. Since this year also marked the 5-year anniversary of our engagement, Austin decided to treat me to a whole weekend of back to back fun dates to celebrate. We kicked off the weekend with a trip to the Half Price Books Flagship Store, followed by dinner at Dallas’ newest Italian spot: Fiatto!
Fiatto just opened last month, but it has already made a big splash on Instagram with its unique cocktails and beautiful decor. Here’s what our experience was like dining there.
The Atmosphere at Fiatto
The first thing you’ll notice about Fiatto is how pretty and well-designed it is. The restaurant’s space is an odd triangular shape with a long wall of open windows that step out onto the patio. But Fiatto’s interior design plays on the funky shape of the room and the end result is stunning: an eye-catching tiled bar runs the length of one wall, charming booths with little rounded awnings extends the length of the other. Outside the front door guests are greeted by patio tables with whimsical fringed umbrellas over them. The color palette is a peachy pink and a soft sage green that compliment each other perfectly. This place was clearly designed to be photographed!
I also want to mention how remarkably kind the staff was. Since they knew we were celebrating an anniversary, they left us a handwritten card on our table! And every waitress we interacted with just exuded genuine kindness and treated us like friends.
The Drinks at Fiatto
One of the main reasons I was so eager to try Fiatto was all the BUZZ on social media about their Queen Bee cocktail. It’s served inside of an unusual oval glass with metal wings like a bee! It is hands down the cutest and most creative glassware I have ever seen, and the cocktail itself was delicious: gin, herbal tea, honey, and lemon perfectly marrying. I also tried Emilia’s Sangria, which was a delicious combination of fruity and herby.
The Food at Fiatto
I’ll be honest – the price range at Fiatto definitely falls more into the “special occasion” category for our household. Entrees range from $18 – $29. However, our Spicy Rigatoni with Vodka sauce was SO incredibly delicious I still dream of it sometimes! The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was to die for.
Since Austin mentioned our engagement anniversary when he placed reservations, the restaurant also treated us to their amazing Nutella Cannoli! It was such a sweet gesture that neither of us was expecting at all. And the cannoli was perfect: with light chocolatey mousse-like cream and crispy delicate pastry. They’ve made a customer out of me for life with that dessert!
Visiting Fiatto
If you want to try out Fiatto for yourself, you can find it at 3700 McKinney Ave, Dallas, TX. We made reservations for 5:30 on a Friday evening, and we managed to beat the dinner rush! It never became uncomfortably crowded the whole time we were there. For more pictures of the food and atmosphere, check out Fiatto on Instagram.
