Pour yourself a cup of coffee with some service on the side at La La Land. This new cafe on Lower Greenville has more than espresso and foam: they’ve got a mission.

The Vibe

When you walk up to the welcoming Southern-sized front porch and spot the cheerful yellow flowers in the planter, you can already tell that this is a happy place. When you step inside you’ll find a long counter where baristas are whipping up tasty drinks, plenty of cozy seating beside a fireplace, and wall-to-wall bookshelves. Bright yellow cups pop against the pure white walls and tables. It really is a little bit like a coffee lover’s dreamland. But what you might not notice immediately about La La Land Kind Cafe is what happens behind the counter.

The Goal

La La Land’s mission is to provide work for youth who are aging out of the foster care system. But beyond simply paying them to do this job, the La La Land team helps them build life skills that they can carry with them into future careers. According to the La La Land website, their employees learn resume building, entrepreneurship, kitchen skills, leadership skills, team work and more.

The Cups

Each sunny yellow to-go cup at La La Land Kind Cafe has a positive message so that you can’t help but smile with every sip. Their menu includes lattes, matcha, tea, cheesecake, jumbo cookies, avocado toast, and more.
