We recently took a long weekend trip to Colorado to explore the mountains and see the sights in the city. You can read all about our trip in detail, but in this post I just wanted to provide a quick and easy guide for creating an ideal Colorado checklist.

Using what we learned on our own adventures, here is the perfect Colorado weekend itinerary for 2023.

The Perfect Colorado Weekend Itinerary 2023

Day 1 – The City

Spend about a day or so sightseeing in Denver. Here are all of the places we enjoyed the most.

Brunch at Denver Biscuit Company (3237 Colfax Ave)

Tattered Cover Book Store (2526 E Colfax Ave)

Mural Hunting in RiNo Art District (2901 Blake St)

Hiking at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre (18300 W Almeda Pkwy)

Union Station (1701 Wynkoop St)

Little Man Ice Cream (2620 16th St)

Sunset at Confluence Park (2200 15th St)

Day 2 – The Mountains

Our favorite part about visiting Colorado was driving through the Rocky Mountains. Here’s the path we took to visit them and the stops we made along the way.

Brunch at Boulder Dushanbe Tea House (1770 13th St)

Downtown Estes Park (Elkhorn Ave)

The Stanley Hotel (333 Wonderview Ave)

Rocky Mountain National Park (1000 US Hwy 36)

Day 3 – The Snow

If you have time for a three-day weekend trip, I recommend driving out in the opposite direction to see another view of the Rockies. This route will take you towards Breckenridge and lots of other popular skiing towns.

Sapphire Point (Co Rd 1)

The Dillon Reservoir (306 Lodgepole St)

The Dillon Ice Casltes (120 W Buffalo St)

Downtown Breckenridge (Main St)
