I scream, you scream, we all scream Dallas! Those sweltering Texas temps provide our hometown with the ideal ice cream eating conditions 10 or 11 months out of the year.

I love the Braum’s drive thru as much as the next girl, but sometimes I’m craving something a little bit more unique. Here are five delicious Dallas ice cream shops that will please your taste buds and your Instagram feed.

Unique Dallas Ice Cream Shops Cauldron Ice Cream

Unique Dallas Ice Cream Shops Cauldron Ice Cream

Cauldron Ice Cream

Have you ever considered eating your ice cream out of something a little bit more unusual than a plain sugar cone? At Cauldron Ice Cream, you can slurp from your very own puffle! These extra puffy waffles are served soft and warm like a breakfast food, which makes for a pretty delicious contrast to the cold ice cream.

You can try the original puffle, the churro puffle, or the red velvet puffle with any of Cauldron’s equally unique ice cream flavors. The ice cream is blast chilled with liquid nitrogen and made fresh in-house every day. For no extra charge, your server will also shape your ice cream into a rose for you to photograph before you dig in.

Location: 3001 Knox St

My Recommendation: Churro Puffle with Chocolate Ice Cream

Unique Dallas Ice Cream Shops Chills 360

Chills 360

Chills 360 Ice Cream Rolls

The desserts at Chills 360 almost seem to defy the laws of physics at first glance. Rather than simply feasting on scoops of ice cream, you’ll be served delicate little rolls that look more like pastries than frozen treats.

Chills 360 uses freezing plates (picture a hibachi grill, but cold) to spread out their house-made ice cream ingredients and shape them into “ice cream rolls.” Many of their flavors feature real fresh fruit added directly into the initial freezing process, which gives their ice cream a truly unique flavor to match its shape.

Locations: 118 E Rusk St (Rockwall), 2646 Elm St (Deep Ellum), 1005 Foch St (Fort Worth)

My Recommendation: Monkey Business (Banana + Nutella) w/ Added Strawberry

Baldo's Ice Cream

Baldo's Ice Cream

Baldo’s Ice Cream

Have you ever finished off one tasty ice cream cone and wished you could eat one or two more? Baldo’s might be the place for you. Instead of sticking to traditional-sized ice cream cones, Baldo’s offers “ice cream flights” of mini cones so that guests can sample several flavors.

Baldo’s has their own special rotating menu of house-made staple and seasonal flavors you won’t find in your local drive through. A few examples: Cherry Coke, Chocolate Covered Pistachio, and Gingerbread House. The mini ice creams are sold in sets of three or six, which is the perfect amount for either one or two people. Three mini ice cream cones is about as filling as one regular-sized cone.

Location: 6401 Hillcrest Ave

My Recommendation: Cookies ‘N Cream (Year-Round) or Banana Pudding (Seasonal)

Sweet Daze Dessert Bar

Sweet Daze Dessert Bar

If you like foodie pictures on Instagram, you’ve probably already seen Sweet Daze Dessert Bar in action. Famous for their elaborate cakes and glittery themed donuts, Sweet Daze also has a tasty ice cream menu.

All of the ice cream at Sweet Daze is soft serve (probably because it’s so aesthetically pleasing). Many of the flavors have delightful milky cereal quality to them, like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. One of their most famous flavors is the mystical “black velvet.”

Location: 581 W Campbell Road

My Recommendation: Fruity Pebbles Flavor

Picole Pops Unique Dallas Ice Cream Shops

Picole Pops

Picole Pops

You might be curious how a popsicle restaurant qualified for this unique Dallas ice cream list. Don’t worry, these are no ordinary popsicles. Picole Pops offers both fruity ice pops and creamy ice cream pops, then dunks them in toppings before handing them over. Some of their popsicles are even filled with goey Nutella or fresh raspberry jam. Some are infused with alcohol.

Sample flavors like Avocado or Irish Coffee while you stroll through the streets of Bishop Arts District or Deep Ellum.

Locations: 2656 Main St (Deep Ellum), 415 W Davis St (Bishop Arts District)

My Recommendation: Dark Chocolate Ganache Pop with Raspberry Filling, or Whiskey Chocolate (Add Sprinkles)
