The weather is warming up and the flowers are starting to blossom here in Dallas, which means it’s time for one my favorite annual spring festivals: Dallas Blooms at the Arboretum!
Spring at the Dallas Arboretum brings 500,000+ colorful flowers, larger than life topiaries, and live music events throughout the season. Here’s what to expect on your visit to Dallas Blooms.
Dallas Blooms Background Info
Dallas Blooms has offered one of the most noteworthy floral displays in the world since 1984 when the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden first opened to the public. It was once named one of “The Best Places to See Stunning Spring Blooms Across the South,” by Southern Living, and it was described as “the most beautiful springtime destination in the U.S.” by Travel and Leisure.
Each year the topiaries in the garden are designed around a different central theme, and the 2022 edition was “Birds of Paradise.” Enormous peacocks constructed out of shrubs, moss, and strategically placed succulents can be found in three different spots across the garden.
Our Day at Dallas Blooms
We parked in the free garage right across the street from the Dallas Arboretum and used the back entrance to the gardens. This gave us plenty of opportunity to follow the main walking path to see thousands upon thousands of spring tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths.
Then we discovered the towering Cherry Blossom trees swaying in the gentle spring breeze.
Finally, we spotted the “Birds of Paradise” peacock topiaries. We counted four of them, and they got larger and larger as we progressed through the gardens.
Tickets for Spring at the Dallas Arboretum
Dallas Blooms lasts from February 19 until April 10, 2022. If you want to experience spring at the Dallas Arboretum for yourself, you can reserve tickets online for $20 per person. There are discounted rates for seniors and children, and Arboretum members can visit for free.
