They say the eyes are the window to the soul — and with Eyeris, you can turn that piece of your soul into a piece of beautiful, one-of-a-kind artwork.

Eyeris is a local business founded by Ellen Yang and her partner Marcello Zamorano that invites you to experience your eyes in a whole new light. Ellen used her skills as a professional photographer to create a pop-up where customers can have their eyes photographed and edited onto a black canvas so that the unique colors and patterns within each iris come to life on the screen.

We visited Eyeris at their pop-up location this summer so that we could experience the magic for ourselves.

Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder

When you arrive at the Eyeris tent, you’re immediately greeted by the sight of dozens of iris portraits from previous customers. It’s fascinating to see how much variation there is even between two eyes that are the same color: the seemingly simple blue and brown hues actually span entire color wheels in different shades and textures.

To capture photos of your iris, the Eyeris team will seat you facing the inside of a mobile darkroom and drape a black curtain behind your shoulders. The photographer will sit across from you and shine a small light at just the right angle to capture the vivid colors and sharp details of your iris with the camera lens.

Ellen and her partner Marcello built their mobile darkroom themselves by hand to ensure they could dictate the precise lighting necessary to capture beautiful photos every time.

Capture A Piece of Your Soul Forever

After your photography session in the black box, you can choose from a selection of different products featuring your iris photo. The digital file for a single iris starts at $50, with additional bundled options available for couples or families. Prints start at $15 and Framed Prints start at $55, depending on the size you choose. If you decide to order a print or framed portrait, Eyeris will ship it directly to your address. The turnaround time to receive your digital files will be around one week because it takes Ellen several hours to edit each iris photo and enchance the visibility of the natural colors and patterns in each person’s eye.

If you’re looking for a sentimental gift for your life partner, a unique way to capture a family portrait, or simply an eye-catching piece of artwork for yourself (pun intended), Eyeris is an experience you won’t want to miss. Visit their pop-up outside Mosaic Makers in Bishop Arts District July 8, 9, and 22 and follow Eyeris on Instagram to find out where they’ll be popping up in Dallas next!

Now through August 31, purchase a gift card for yourself or a loved one on the Eyeris Linktree and use the code JULIE at checkout for $5 off!
