In my personal opinion, Edo Japan is the best sushi restaurant in Rockwall, Texas! Edo also serves delicious hibachi meals and has an enormous bar stocked with authentic beverages from Japanese culture.
Edo Japan Price Range: $-$$$
Depending on how much you food you need to get full and whether or not you treat yourself to a drink, you can eat very affordably at Edo Japan, or opt to splurge a little bit. Classic sushi ranges from about $5-10. Signature sushi rolls are $12-16, and come with more ingredients and bigger portions. You can add a soup or simple ginger salad for $2-3. Fried rice and noodle meals served with a side of soup go for $9-18, depending on your portion size and choice of meat. Hibachi meals served with soup, ginger salad, and rice cost around $11-30, also depending on your meat selections.
Drinks can be a little bit more costly because they are so unique. For example, a glass of sake (Japanese rice wine) costs about $8, and other specialty drinks are pricier.
Theoretically, you could eat a bowl of miso soup for $2, a California roll for $6.25, and a glass of water for free bringing your total to approximately $9 per person with tax. On the other hand, you could order fillet minion hibachi style for dinner with a glass of sake and a slice of cheesecake for dessert, bringing your total to $44 per person with tax. The beauty of Edo Japan is its versatility: it can become a high-end, luxurious experience if you don’t mind spending, or a simple $10 lunch out if you are on a budget.

Edo Japan has one of the largest sushi selections in Rockwall. Whether you like to play it safe with cooked rolls or classics, or you want to branch out and try something a little bit more adventurous, Edo Japan has you covered. Their California Roll is excellent, and it makes a great place to start for first timers (or anyone who hates overly fishy tasting things). Their hibachi menu is also top notch, but the only slight drawback is that you do not get to watch the chef prepare your food. Once you take a bite of all that deliciousness, you might not care that your dinner didn’t come with a show! They also have a wide variety of different sake flavors in either hot, cold, or sparkling.
My Edo Japan Favorites
I usually start off my meal with a bowl of Clear Soup. It consists of clear broth, mushrooms, and onion crisps. I prefer the flavor to the tofu in Miso Soup.
I’m still easing my way into the sushi world, so a California Roll is often my go-to. I also think it is a good litmus test for a sushi restaurant. Edo Japan’s California Roll does not disappoint. It is packed with flavor, and the avocado is nice and fresh. Anything on the sushi menu is a safe bet at Edo Japan.
For little variety, I go for a Bento Box. For something hearty, hibachi chicken and fried rice is awesome.
We are also big fans of the sake. Our favorite flavors are white peach and raspberry. I prefer to drink it cold, like wine, but my husband Austin enjoys the sensation of the more traditional hot drink.
Edo Japan is both an independently-owned restaurant, and a delicious treat. We are always eager for our next opportunity to dine on cuisine from another culture.
