This summer we spent a relaxing weekend beside the calm waters of Lake Texoma at Tanglewood Resort. We were amazed by our comfortable suite, the beautiful new swimming pools on the grounds, and the delicious food. Here’s everything we experienced on our lovely couples getaway to Tanglewood!
Our Suite at Tanglewood Resort
Since Tanglewood is only a short one-hour trip from Dallas, we drove up to Lake Texoma after work on a Friday and arrived in plenty of time to grab some dinner and get settled in to our room. When we stepped inside, our jaws dropped!
We had an entire suite to ourselves, complete with a full kitchen, dining room, and living room, a large jacuzzi tub in the spacious main bathroom, and even a laundry room equipped with a washer and dryer. The main bedroom had a huge king bed, rivaled in size only by the enormous closets!

The suite also had an adjoining room with two Queen beds, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. It would be absolutely perfect for a large family or a group of friends staying together! From our large private balcony we could see lots of nice grills nearby the suites where families could enjoy some BBQ prepped in their in-suite kitchens.
Tanglewood was also kind enough to leave us a sweet welcome note with a bottle of wine and some gourmet popcorn from a local shop! We really appreciated the gesture!
Activities at Tanglewood Resort
While the soft and comfy couches in our suite were the perfect spot to curl up with a good book and relax, there was also no shortage of activities on property to enjoy throughout the weekend.
The Pool
The pool at Tanglewood was newly remodeled this spring, and the hard work paid off. With three different sized pools cascading down miniature waterfalls, a tiki bar, dozens of pool chairs and umbrellas, and gorgeous cabana-style seating under covered pergolas, the pool area was absolutely dreamy.
The Golf Course
Tanglewood’s gold course was designed by famous player Arnold Palmer himself! Call ahead and set up the tee time of your choice when you book your stay, because the spots fill up fast. We didn’t last very long golfing in the June heat, but the course seemed gorgeous.
Lake Texoma
Tanglewood is located right on the banks of Lake Texoma, so you can book guided fishing trips, kayaking excursions, sunset cruises and even scenic horseback riding straight from the property. The lake is massive, so you could easily spend and entire day exploring!
Dinner at Tanglewood Resort
Tanglewood has restaurants onsite serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. The real jewel of the property is the Lakeview Steakhouse, where we dined like royalty beside a window looking out at a lovely little garden.
Tanglewood treated us to a three-course meal with two appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts plus complimentary drinks from the bar.
For our first course, we couldn’t pass up the Charcuterie Board. It was plated beautifully and covered in fine meats and cheeses and fresh fruit.
We also tried the Seafood Platter based on a recommendation from my friend Katie Rose who stayed at Tanglewood a few months ago. The seared shrimp and scallops were served with smoked brie and an inventive mustard sauce that was unlike anything I’ve paired with sea food before.
For our main courses, I ordered the Peppercorn Filet with Mushroom Risotto and Austin tried the Dill Crusted Salmon with Garlic Mashed Potatoes . Both were cooked to perfection, and my mushroom risotto was especially dreamy.
For dessert, we ordered the Tiramisu and the Chocolate Cake. The cake was a real showstopper with decadent thick chocolate icing covering perfectly moist cake.
The Tower Bar at Tanglewood Resort
We spent our last evening at Tanglewood lounging at the Tower Bar eight stories above the resort, overlooking beautiful Lake Texoma. From this vanatage point, you can see boats at a marina in one direction, the sun setting over the water in another direction, and the Tanglewood pool area just below. We enjoyed taking in the view from the floor to ceiling windows together.
Book your own stay at Tanglewood!
We were so grateful Tanglewood invited us to experience their newly remodeled grounds and dine at their incredible steakhouse on this sponsored trip. We had such a lovely stay!
