Austin, TX is one of my favorite destinations for a weekend trip from Dallas. There is some much amazing local art, food, and nature to explore!

Something I always do while we’re in town is hunt down some of the most famous murals in the area for the gram. Here are my 12 favorite Austin, TX murals with addresses and descriptions to help you track them down.

1. Greetings From Austin Postcard Mural

I think this mural is so pretty and iconic! We always stop here for pictures when we taek weekend trips to Austin. It’s located within a short walk from the next four murals on this list, so it’s a great starting point if you’re mural hunting.

Location: 1720 S 1st St

2. You Belong Among the Wildflowers

This mural has the classic song lyric by Tom Petty surrounded by a bright array of blooms. Since it’s right next to some telephone wires and a fire hydrant, you’ll get the best pictures from an angle to the left of the mural. This one is directly across the street from the Greetings From Austin Postcard Mural.

Location: 1720 S 1st St

3. Butterfly Life Cycle Wall

Less than a block away from the Greetings From Austin Postcard Mural there’s a really fun shop called Art for the People. Local artists create posters, sculptures, and other nicknacks that make the best souvenirs. I love to stop there and shop for locally curated goods while we’re in town, and I love it even more for having such beautiful murals! On the left side wall, there’s a mural depicting the life cycle of a butterfly. On the right side wall, there are butterfly wings where you can stand for a fun picture.

Location: 1711 S 1st St

4. Bon Appetit, Austin

Right around the corner from the You Belong Among the Wildflowers Mural, there’s a pink building covered in tasty snacks. Stop at La Patisserie for a delicious french treat, and snap a picture in front of the cute mural while you’re there.

Location: 602 W Annie St

5. A Case of the Mondays

If you like the movie Office Space, this is the mural for you! The clever speech bubble is my favorite part.

Location: 1603 S 1st St

6. You’re My Butter Half

This iconic wall is located over in East Austin. It’s a great spot to pose with your love, your bestie, or even your dog!

Location: 2000 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd

7. Lover & Fighter

Less than 10 minutes away from the You’re My Butter Half Mural by car, there’s a fun, artsy wall with a vivid rainbow of colors. The Lover & Fighter Mural is one of my absolute favorite spots in the city!

Location: 1209 E. Cesar Chavez St

8. The Oasis

Next time you’re heading to get drinks or dinner while you watch the sunset on Lake Travis, make a stop at the bottom level of the parking garage. The Oasis mural depicts the lake and all the colorful umbrellas that sit along the hillside.

Location: 6550 Comanche Trail

9. Historic 6th Street Mural

The next four murals are all located off of 6th Street. The first one is actually called The Historic 6th Street Mural, the endcap to the famous entertainment district. The mural boasts all the greatest things about the city in bright reds, blues, and oranges.

Location: 6th St. & 1-35 SB Access Road

10. Monopoly Mural

Internationally known street artist Alec Monopoly painted this wall as part of Austin Elevates, a two-day art and music event in 2019.

Location: 601 W 6th St

11. Taquero Mucho

There are actually several murals and cute photo backdrops at the all-pink taco shop Taquero Mucho. Snap some pictures in front of this cute cheetah print wall, then grab tacos or a margarita.

Location: 508 West Ave

12. Ride Austin

I think this mural is the cutest, especially for pictures with an electric scooter! Next time you’re sight-seeing down 6th Street, pull over and check it out.
