Tucked away in the East Texas countryside in Canton, TX, there’s a fall farmland full of festive fun. If haunted hayrides, creepy corn mazes, or zombie paintball sound like the perfect way to spend an October weekend, you’ll love YesterLand Farm.
Here’s our visitor’s guide to all of the spectacularly spooky activities!
Planning Your Visit to YesterLand Farm
The first thing to decide is when you want to visit YesterLand. During the month of September, you can enjoy all of the regular daytime activities, plus fields of fresh sunflowers. During October, you can also stay after dark for their “Spooktacular Nights” activities. I personally recommend visiting in October so that you can enjoy these extra experiences!
The next thing you’ll choose is which tickets to purchase. There are General Admission tickets for $27, and “Super Admission” tickets that come with 5 activity tokens for $48. The activity tokens are only needed for a few select activities: apple cannon ammo, paintball, pony rides, and gemstone mining. They can be purchased at the farm for $5 each, and we found that we only needed a few of them to do everything we wanted to do. So I personally recommend purchasing the General Admission tickets and then determining how many tokens you need once you arrive.
At the gates, we purchased a special package with 5 tokens for $20 (a $5 discount). Since most of the activities we did were free, that was the perfect amount for two of us to share for our favorite activity: Zombie Paintball. We spent $54 on our two tickets plus $20 on the 5-token package for a total of $74, whereas two Super Admission tickets with 10 tokens would cost $96. It really all depends on which activities you want to do!
Fall Fun at YesterLand Farm
The full list of fun experiences throughout the fall season at YesterLand Farm includes: photo spots (like giant skeletons, a Texas flag mural, or the cutest little pumpkin house), a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, a petting zoo, carnival rides, pig races, live music, hayrides, and concession snacks. Using purchased tokens, you can enjoy apple cannons, pony rides, gemstone mining, and a paintball shooting gallery. In September, you can frolic through sunflower fields. In October, you can stay after dark for a haunted hayride, a haunted house, a haunted corn maze, zombie paintball (for a few tokens), and a fireworks show.
Here are the activities we enjoyed the most.
The Pumpkin Patch
YesterLand has so many cute fall photo spots, and we didn’t even really have to fight off crowds of people to get good pictures. It was the best! The pumpkin patch in front of a giant Texas flag and the pumpkin house were my two favorites.
The Corn Maze
Who doesn’t love the challenge and excitement of a corn maze? We opted to do the daylight version because I was too wimpy to have actors chasing me around with chainsaws through the haunted corn maze, but Austin really wanted to try it. Maybe next year I’ll be brave enough!
We also got some really nice spontaneous fall pictures standing amongst the corn stalks. The light was really pretty in there!
The Haunted Hayride
After it got dark, we entered the Spooktacular Nights zone and took a ride on a spooky train. It wasn’t very scary, but it was lots of fun to see all of the themed decor in the woods.
Zombie Paintball
Our absolute favorite activity was hands down the Zombie Paintball. We used tokens to purchase cups full of glow in the dark paintballs. Then we were led to a military encampment where we watched a video with safety instructions from our “commander.” Finally, we walked down to an old bunker where paintball guns were mounted along one wall. “Zombies” came crawling uphill towards our bunker, and we pummeled them with the glowing paintballs to save the world from destruction. (You’re welcome!)
It was one of the most unique activities I’ve ever tried! It definitely had all the appropriately spooky vibes, but I don’t think it would be too scary for young kids (or wimps like me). There were no jump scares, just lots of paintball gunfire.
Purchase Tickets to YesterLand Farm
