Now that the weather is turning chilly in Dallas, I’ve started craving comfort foods like grilled cheese and tomato soup. Recently Austin and I visited Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff to create a shop local holiday gift guide, and we couldn’t resist stopping by Dallas Grilled Cheese Company for some deliciousness.
Dallas Grilled Cheese Co has two locations, one in Bishop Arts and one at Mockingbird Station. It’s one of my all-time favorite restaurants, and once you try it it will probably quickly become one of yours! Here is what you need to know about DCG.
Dallas Grilled Cheese Company Price Range: $
One of the best things about Dallas Grilled Cheese Company is that it’s budget-friendly. Their classic grilled cheese is only $3! Their famous tomato basil soup is $5 for a pretty big bowl, or $10 for a combo special with soup and a sandwich. They have a wide variety of different gourmet sandwiches priced under $10 for savvy foodies to try, but they also don’t take their melted cheese too seriously. I appreciate that.
Popular Menu Items
For such a simple restaurant concept, the menu here is pretty diverse. Almost all of the menu items incorporate melted cheese and some sort of tasty meat, like ham or bacon. Austin tried a sandwich called “The Favorite,” which consisted of “parmesan-crusted grilled sourdough with American, cheddar and Gruyère cheeses, crumbled bacon, and Dijon mustard” according to the DGC Co menu. He savored every single bite. There are also plenty of vegetarian options, like soups, salads, cheese fries and bruschetta bites. Their fried green bean appetizer is delectable.
My Cheesey Favorites
The atmosphere at DGC Co is lovely. The room is filled with warm light and plenty of tables, and there is a large bar at the back with some tempting specialty cocktails. Sometimes they offer a social media special. Check in at Dallas Grilled Cheese Company on Facebook, your waiter will bring you a FREE appetizer: extra crispy grilled cheese strips and a mini tomato soup cup for dunking.
My go-to order at DCG is the soup and sandwich combo for $10. It comes with a sandwich called The Rustic and your choice of soup.
