1. Dallas Arboretum – Autumn at the Arboretum

It’s a little farther north than many of the other options on our list, but it makes a fun fall day trip for families in northern DFW and beyond.

Tips for Visiting a Dallas-Area Pumpkin Patch

North Texas fall weather can be unpredictable, so it’s always a good idea to check a pumpkin patch’s website or social media before heading out. Rain, heat and other weather conditions can occasionally affect hours or activities.

Also keep in mind that some pumpkin patches require reservations or timed tickets, while others are free or allow walk-ins. If you’re visiting with young children, check the attraction list before you go—some locations are perfect for a quick pumpkin-picking trip, while others have enough rides, animals, mazes and activities to fill an entire afternoon.

And, of course, don’t forget your camera! Between the pumpkins, hay bales, scarecrows, farm animals and fall decorations, there are plenty of opportunities for the perfect autumn photo.
