One of my favorite things about traveling to a new city is the opportunity to sample new food! On our regular weekend trips to Austin, TX, we’ve quickly become dessert aficionados for all of the tastiest treats in the Lone Star State Capital. Here are six Austin, TX desserts you have to try for yourself.
6 Austin, TX Desserts To Try
1. Donuts from Lola’s
We’ll kick off our foodie dessert tour of the city with my favorite donut shop, Lola’s Donuts. Lola’s signature recipes are brioche bun and cake donuts with elaborate flavor palettes and funky themes. So far, we’ve tried their Bananas Foster, Maple Bacon, and Cadbury Egg Donuts. All of them were delicious, but Bananas Foster was by far my favorite.
The exterior wall of this walk up donut shop is covered in cute flowers, so it’s a must-see for foodies and photographers. Even if you’re more like my husband Austin and you’d much rather eat your food than take pictures of it, you’ll definitely enjoy these high-quality treats.
Location: 2406 Manor Rd, Suite B
2. Banana Nutella Crepe from Elizabeth Street Café
Over on 1st Street, you’ll find a unique French and Vietnamese fusion restaurant called Elizabeth Street Café. They make some pretty delicious noodles and egg rolls, but the dessert you’ll want to add to your list is their Banana Nutella Crepe.
It’s crispy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside, and dusted with candied nuts and powdered sugar. Such a delicious brunch treat!
Location: 1501 S First St
3. Gelato from Dolce Neve
The next dessert on the list is my favorite ice cream of all time, anywhere in the world! Only a couple of blocks away from Elizabeth Street Cafe, Dolce Neve is an Italian family-owned gelato shop that we make sure to visit every time we come to Austin.
The rich, creamy ice cream comes in fun European flavors like Chocolate & Orange Peel, Custard with Lemon Peel, Skyr with Bananas, Mascarpone & Figs, Tiramisu, and so many more. I daydream about this ice cream all the time. Don’t leave Austin without a cup!
Location: 1713 S 1st St, 1109 E 5th St Suite 170
4. Eclairs from La Pâtissière
Around the corner from Dolce Neve, there’s a pink building covered in murals of French sweets that you can’t miss. La Pâtissière has all sorts of scrumptious pastries, but I recommend their light and fluffy chocolate eclairs and cream puffs.
Location: 602 W Annie St, 7301 Burnet Rd
5. Banana Nutella Egg Rolls from Peached Tortilla
This dessert from Peached Tortilla is definitely the most unique item on the list. It’s a heavenly combination of warm and gooey banana center and cool coconut whipped cream. It’s a fun and inventive twist on a classic flavor combination that makes a great foodie picture too!
Location: 5520 Burnet Rd #100
6. Miniature Pie Bites from Tiny Pies
Tiny Pies is the cutest little dessert shop selling, you guessed it, miniature pies! They have tons of rotating seasonal flavors, all of which are equally delicious. Don’t be deceived by how tiny the pies are, they are actually very filling too.
Location: 5035 Burnet Rd #100, 2032 S Lamar Blvd, 3736 Bee Cave Rd #8B
