When DFW residents think of Grapevine, attractions like The Great Wolf Lodge, The Gaylord Texan, or Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall probably come to mind. While we love these places (I’ve spent many hours and dollars in that outlet mall), Grapevine’s local scene has so much to offer too!

We recently spent a weekend exploring historic downtown Grapevine, and we’ve compiled a list of our favorite new spots. Here are eight fun things to do in Grapevine, TX.

1. Catch a classic movie at the Palace Theatre.

The Palace Theatre is a restored art-deco style movie theater from the 1940s that gives Main Street in downtown Grapevine so much of its charm. Travel back in time and enjoy some of your old favorite movies for just $6. Find showtimes here.

2. Wander through history.

The city of Grapevine has done an amazing job preserving lots of beautiful old buildings from many different eras of history. Watch the old glockenspiel clock tower figures move periodically throughout the day, or take a peek inside an original prairie home from the 1800s while you hop between restaurants and boutiques.

3. Go mural hunting.

Check out impressive bronze sculptures and gorgeous murals depicting scenes from throughout Grapevine’s history dotted along Main Street on the Public Art Trail. Perfect for anyone searching for some Instagram content. (We know we’re not the only ones!)

4. Shop like a Brit.

Check out authentic British groceries, decadent European candies, and an entire wall of different teas at The British Emporium. In addition to all of the tasty treats, you can find tea cups, Beatles memorabilia, British books and toys, Doctor Who and Harry Potter products, and more.

5. Find the perfect gift. (Or treat yourself!)

There are so many local stores with unique and beautiful goods for sale. We saw modern day cuckoo clocks, beautifully illustrated pop-up books, and an entire wall full of crazy patterned socks. We try to scope out good boutique spots fairly often to feature them on our blog or Instagram, and Grapevine blew us away. We even scored a Christmas gift for my mom four months early because we simply could not pass it up! Our top three favorites were One Posh Place, The Palm Tree, and Grapevine’s Market on Main.

6. Get your groceries at the Farmer’s Market.

This indoor market space hosts local produce, dairy, honey, and tons of other delectable looking foods farmed nearby.

7. Snack on a slice of pie.

Are you prepared for the best pie you have ever tasted in your whole life? I wasn’t.

Judy Pie absolutely rocked our world. We ordered the Blueberry Ginger and the Chocolate Bourbon with ice cream on the side. We recommend both! 10/10, will eat again.

8. Sip some wine from the vine.

Grapevine’s namesake did not disappoint. There are numerous wine bars and wine tasting opportunities around town, and I’m sure you can’t go wrong with any of them. We went on a double date with two of our besties to Umbra Winery and sampled their red and white flights with three different wine varieties for $10 each. I sipped on a beautiful champagne drink adorned with blueberry ice spheres.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere at Umbra and we thought the drink prices were reasonable for their quality and quantity. It was a perfect way to end our evening and our weekend of fun in Grapevine, TX.
