As the weather finally cools down this October, we are always looking for opportunities to spend time together outside in the crisp autumn air. But finding cheap things to do around DFW can prove challenging. Fortunately for us, we live just a few minutes away from the Blase Family Farm in Rockwall.
For only $8 per person, you can enjoy unlimited hay rides, feed cute farm animals, and take some gorgeous fall photos. PLUS you can eat exclusive pumpkin flavored goodies like the pumpkin pop pictured above! Here are five of our favorite things to do at the Blase Family Farm.
1. Feed some sheep.
The price of admission comes with a free cup of animal feed that guarantees you are about to make some new woolly best friends. The Blase Family Farm is home to several different breeds of sheep, goats, and even a few longhorns.
2. Take a hayride.
Nothing says “fall” better than a classic hayride. Hop on board a trailer and the Blase farm tractor will give you a tour of the beautiful woods covering the property. In the distance you can spot the blueberry fields that will re-open for picking in the spring and the bee hives where the Blase family harvests local honey.
3. Take some pictures.
Do it for the gram! There are dozens of cute fall signs all over the Blase property that would make perfect family pictures. If you want to announce a big moment (like a pregnancy or engagement) the lovely woods and bright cheerful pumpkins would make for an excellent backdrop.
4. Snack on sweet pumpkin treats.
Our favorite part about visiting the Blase Family Farm is the FOOD! They sell pumpkin fudge that melts in your mouth and leaves you swooning, and pumpkin popsicles that beat Steel City Pops hands down. Both recipes come from the Blase family themselves. A piece of pumpkin fudge is $1 and a pumpkin pop is $3. Both are worth every single penny.
5. Pick out a pumpkin.
If you visit the Blase Family Farm on the weekdays, you can take home a free pumpkin included in your admission price! You can choose from rows of hearty pie pumpkins (perfect for carving and baking purposes) or bring home a cute little mini pumpkin. Thanks to my love of all things mini, we opted for the smaller ones.
